Livestreamed screening and discussion
EVENT POSTPONED DUE TO ILLNESS - NEW DATE COMING SHORTLY
Filmed over ten years at the New York City Bellevue Program for Survivors of Torture, this intimate documentary - the first of its kind - traces the healing journeys of four asylees who arrive in the USA seeking refuge.
We follow a Tibetan nun, a Chadian human rights advocate, a Jamaican gay man, and a survivor of Sierra Leone’s civil war as they work with a team of care partners to overcome unimaginable cruelty, rebuild their lives, and find the strength to speak out against those who terrorized communities in the countries they once called home.
We are delighted to host this livestreamed screening and discussion to mark the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture - an international observance held annually on 26 June.
Panel discussion
The discussion after the screening will include the film directors, NGOs and healthcare professionals who work with survivors of torture - more details to follow shortly.
